“Tis easy enough to be pleasant,
When life flows along like a song;
But the man worthwile,
Is the man who can smile,
When everything goes dead wrong,
For the test of the heart is trouble,
And it always comes with the years;
But the smile that is worth
The praise of the earth,
Is the smile that comes through tears” (Anon)
Sometimes our moments of glory happen when times are tough. Staying true to our values and who we choose to be in trying times says a lot about a person’s character.
I have come to realize that staying positive is a state of mind. We can choose our own mental behavior and thought patterns. It does require self-discipline, self-awareness and resilience but the more we practice this new way of being, the easier it becomes.
It is truly easy to succumb to negativity, bitterness and hate and we can certainly convince ourselves that we are justified to do so. The real question however is, what does this yield in us?
In order for us to attract new possibilities, opportunities and relationships sometimes calls for a new way of being, a new way of behaving and more importantly a new way of thinking. With the new awareness of Neuro Plasticity, it is remarkable to think that we can change the structure of our brains by changing our thinking.
The deeper awareness that we can change our whole being and identity by changing our thoughts, beliefs and narratives about ourselves and our life is truly inspiring. Sometimes all we need is a little help and guidance on this journey of self-discovery and self-development.
Reinventing ourselves is not a new concept but Neuro Plasticity certainly allowed science to join the party of wisdom and spiritual awareness.
In these trying times we live in, we need to become someone new, to embrace the new reality and to thrive despite our current challenges.
Who do you want to be?
